four dancers intertwined together

HOME | June 2025

'HOME' was a collaborative performance, shared between DANCE COLONY + Artists and THE COLONY.   DCA presented excepts of:   (built on) WATER Choreography by Luca-Andrea Lino Tessarini Original composition by Sam Vanderveer Dancers: Mia Barnett, Avery Boose, Madison Burkhart, Marcel Cavaliere, Rachael Lee, Lacy Slaats '(built on) WATER' flows between strength and surrender, capturing what it means to be human in a constantly shifting world. Tessarini’s choreography breathes with emotion — powerful, fluid, and deeply felt. As if built on an unseen current, the dancers move with passion, vulnerability, and an ever-present readiness to adapt. It’s a portrait of resilience, told through motion. The Last One I Made Choreography by Talia Favia Music by Pim Stones Dancers: Avery Boose, Marcel Cavaliere This duet is an intimate and athletic expression of love, loss, and hope. Favia’s choreography is rich with emotion and marked by intricate partnering that speaks volumes without a single word. The movement is unexpected and heartfelt, capturing the journey toward healing and the quiet promise that life, somehow, gets better. It’s a tribute — tender, yet powerful. steady Choreography by Seth Robinson Music by Music: by Giulio Caccini, Vladimir Vavilou, SCS Cello Ensemble, Jacon Shaw and Johann Johannsson, Air Lyndhurst String Orchestra, and Anthony Weeden Dancers: Catie Armbrecht, Mia Barnett , Tina Diaz, Lacy Slaats   This quartet explores the art of control within disruption. Four dancers move with clarity and calm through an ever-changing landscape, their precision a quiet rebellion against the surrounding chaos. Robinson’s choreography is musically sharp and technically refined, yet carries an underlying softness — a sense of ease within complexity. It's a study in balance, where stillness is found not in the absence of motion, but in the grace with which it’s carried.

totality | oct 2025

‘TOTALITY’ was DCA’s inaugural performance and was dedicated to Christopher Wolfe, a deeply soulful, multi-talented artist, and beloved father, who passed away one year before the show’s opening. Chris had a unique humor, a gentle presence, and a remarkable eye for detail. The skull sculpture featured in TOTALITY’s imagery was created by him in his youth, a lasting symbol of his artistry and care. TOTALITY was a collision of power, precision, and pure artistry. The choreography explored the human experience, pushing dancers to their physical and emotional edge. The performance featured: Uprising Choreography by Jeff Wolfe Music by Ana Carla Maza and Christophe Zurfluh Dancers: Catie Armbrecht, Mia Barnett, Tina Diaz, Lexi Jordan, Lauren Payne, Gretchen Plinke, Lacy Slaats, Sarah Sterling, Madison Wagaman This piece bursts onto the stage with raw energy and unrelenting intensity. Set to a driving rhythm, it captures the struggle that accompanies a shift in power and leadership — the tension of transformation and the emergence of something new. What begins as a clash of forces evolves into a collective uprising, where conflict gives way to cohesion. It’s bold, physical, and urgent — a takeover not just of space, but of spirit. Wolfe’s choreography channeles momentum into movement that is both electrifying and defiant, ultimately revealing the unity that can emerge from upheaval. A Time for Transition Improvisation by Madison Burkhart steady Choreography by Seth Robinson Music by Music: by Giulio Caccini, Vladimir Vavilou, SCS Cello Ensemble, Jacon Shaw and Johann Johannsson, Air Lyndhurst String Orchestra, and Anthony Weeden Dancers: Catie Armbrecht, Mia Barnett, Tina Diaz, Lacy Slaats   This quartet explores the art of control within disruption. A New Day Improvisation by Marcel Cavaliere OMEN
Choreography by Luca -Andrea Lino Tessarini Original composition by Sam Vanderveer Dancers: Dancers: Mia Barnett, Tina Diaz, Lauren Payne, Gretchen Plinke, Lacy Slaats, Sarah Sterling, Madison Wagaman A piece that draws its power from intention and momentum. Tessarini’s choreography navigates the spaces between — between impact and pause, strength and vulnerability, action and restraint. Vanderveer’s evocative score feels almost painted onto the dancers’ bodies, creating a textured world of sound and motion. This is a work that pulls you in with purpose, leaving a lasting impression.
